Alleghany Memorial Hospital Respiratory Care Department is a full service, specialty department that works under medical direction to provide the treatment, management, control, diagnostic evaluation, and care of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardio-pulmonary system.

The Respiratory Care Department uses therapeutic measures such as oxygen, environmental control systems, humidification, aerosols, ventilator support, broncho-pulmonary drainage, pulmonary rehabilitation, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, and airway management.

The Respiratory Care Department offers a Smoking Cessation Program, Pulmonary Rehab, and Sleep Studies. Managed by the In-Patient Nursing Department, all Respiratory Care services are performed by Certified Respiratory Therapists. In-Home Respiratory Care services are provided to Alleghany and surrounding communities by hospital staff. The Alleghany Memorial Hospital Respiratory Care Department is available 24 hours a day.
