In 2011, we employed 169 full time and part time employees with an additional couple of dozen contracted employees. We paid over $7,000,000 in wages and benefits to these folks which in turn flowed throughout the Alleghany and Grayson communities. We served 7,334 emergency department patients as well as providing 3,719 patient care days on our inpatient unit. We took 11,554 x-rays, and performed 52,104 lab tests. We dispensed 146,586 pharmaceuticals and clocked 53,435 minutes in the operating room. As impressive as all that sounds, and it is impressive for a rural community hospital, the most important things we provided were hope and loving care. Being there when you're needed the most is unquantifiable, and proves the worth and value of this institution.
